Setup > Directory

The Directory module is where you come to set up your site map, essentially telling Demand-Genius how to interpret different sections and pages of your site. There are two parts to the Directory module. The top of the page is dedicated to configuring the different Content Types, Topics and Custom Tags for your content. The bottom of the Page is where you configure your site Directory.

Content Types

To add a new Content Type, simply enter the name for the Content Type and press the purple plus icon. You can add as many content types as you need, but it is advised to keep this list as concise as possible for reporting purposes down the line.

For example if you have three different styles of blog content, consider using the Topics and Custom Tags to identify the different blog categories rather than adding three unique Content Types.

Topics

To add a new content Topic, simply enter the name for the Topic and press the purple plus icon, repeating the process for each Topic for which you have content.  You can add as many content Topics as you need.

Custom tags

To add a new Custom Tag, simply enter the name for the Custom Tag and press the purple plus icon, repeating the process for each Tag that you need to create. You can add as many content Tags as you need and you can choose to use the tags in the best way for your business.

Customers predominantly use the tags to align the directory with how you look at your marketing funnel for example awareness > consideration > conversion > loyalty. Custom tags can also be used to identify campaign-specific content.

Site-Map

The Site-Map is where you define your site structure for Demand-Genius to be able to track user engagement and deploy dynamic user experiences on your site. You are not required to configure this section for your entire site, only the pages and content that will have Demand-Genius experiences deployed and the content that you will track.

You can come back to this section at any time and add more sections or pages to the Site-Map.

To add your first page or section, click on ‘Add Page Path’ and complete the two fields in the pop-up box.

Path

Enter the page path for the section or content, omitting the main domain, for example if your blog content is located at https://www.mysite.com/blog, then you would enter ‘blog’ as the path. The overall page path is provided under the entry field so you can ensure that the overall path is correct.

You should then enter a user-friendly Title. This is only used for identification within Demand-Genius.

Once you have entered the two pieces of information, click Submit.

You should then select the Content Type, Topic and assign any Custom Tags to this path as required. You may add as many Paths at this level as needed and once complete click ‘Save’.

Sub Path

For each Path configured in the Site-Map, you are expand the directory with nested Sub-Paths. This lets you configure distinct Content Types, Topics and Tags at each level, for example to identify the specific topics of each blog post or whitepaper.

Note: downloadable content should be configured as a specific sub-path, including the download URL the user needs to be redirected to. (see below for details).

It is also possible to apply the parent path configuration to child paths, by clicking the ‘Apply to all subpages’ check-box.

Note: Any child page which does not have a specific path configured in the Demand-Genius Site-Map, will inherit the configuration from it’s parent path. For example, in the screenshot below, as the Sub Path to Resource we have configured Blog content which has:

Content Type

Blog

Topic

Product Release

Custom tags

Education

Every page under blog will inherit this configuration, with the exception of Blog 1 and Blog 4.

The Site-Map manages by exception and in this example Blog 1 and Blog 4 are the exception, which are configured as follows:

Blog 1

Content Type

Resources

Topic

Machine Learning

Custom tags

Technical Nurture, Thought Leadership, Top of Funnel

Blog 4

Content Type

Resources

Topic

Customer Data

Custom tags

Technical Nurture, Thought Leadership, Top of Funnel

Downloadable Content

When the content to be gated is a downloadable piece of content, such as a whitepaper or guide, then you should select the ‘Downloadable Content’ check box when adding the path. This allows you to also add the Content URL for the content that is gated and can be downloaded.

When a user submits a form for this content type on the defined path, they will be redirected to the Content URL configured.
